Devotional Anarchy with Isha Vela

Oct 9, 2022

Many of us are familiar with spiritual bypassing and brightsiding, but are you aware of the more subtle ways we weaponize spiritual shame in healing spaces?

Of course, the point of this conversation is to recognize how you might be weaponizing spiritual shame within your own internal experience.

Examples of subtle forms of spiritual shame in coaching containers:

  • Guiding someone to feel better because you're uncomfortable with their pain
  • Trying to rescue them from their feelings
  • Helping someone by promoting their dependence on you
  • Protecting them from moving at their own pace
  • Being in the discomfort of their own messy, imperfect process.

In this episode, I dive into two of these examples with more detail and share why acceptance is a much more powerful alchemist than "improvement."
